2001 9-5 wagon LPT, about 100K miles. Wife driving it on highway, stopped at a place briefly, then car would crank but would barely fire. Thinking about maybe a CPS failure, I watched the tach needle during cranking. At first, it would bounce just a bit, and the engine fired a couple of times, but then it would just rise up to about 100 rpm and stay there during cranking, with no firing. Spark plugs looked good. Tried the DI cassette from my '91 9kt, but from reading the archives, perhaps it wouldn't work anyway in a 9-5. So one thing I'm wondering is how much the tach needle should bounce in a 9-5 during cranking, if the CPS is good. Any other ideas? Thanks.
