Over a few years I am fighting to get lid of intermittent CEL with P1105 code.

I had the wastegate rod popped off once, which is classic P1105 thrower, and the dealership fixed it under warranty, but CEL still comes on with that code. Also had temp/ abs pressure sensor, blow-off valve and boost control solenoid replaced, but none did the trick. I also went through the intake piping to verify any leakage, replaced an o-ring at the throttle body, etc. but still no luck.

CEL comes and goes by itself, more often so in warm weather (i.e. above 40F), while it tends to stay off during winter (I'm in MI.) P1105 basically indicates less than expected boost, and this would make sense if the leakage is tiny and colder/ denser air is masking the boost loss.

Along the way, I learned to ignore CEL, then bought an OBD II scanner when my warranty expired to get on top of possible issues. SO I can kill CEL but P1105 keeps coming back intermittently, now more often during cold weather than before.

Today some thought just hit me and I checked the wastegate rod preload per WIS, and actually my rod was set at WG somewhat open (i.e. 12 o'clock) with no preload....... WG arm stops (fully closed) at about 10 o'clock. I adjusted the rod end and I could barely get 2mm preload, running out of the entire thread.

I think less base boost due to WG partially open/ insufficient rod preload could also trigger P1105, as it would induce less than expected boost, even though WIS does not mention this possibility. I guess the time will tell but I am hopeful that I am getting to the end of P1105 saga. It was snowing today so could not drive much, but it felt that the turbo spools up quicker to the end of yellow and no CEL yet.

What do you SAAB experts out there think about this? Similar experience? I appreciate your feedback.
