Justin HiFi and Scott,
Thanx for the quick diagnosis critical path and system explanations!!! I have the WIS and the EPT, but I hadn't quite figured out the steps for chasing down the issue. The replacement gas cap did not do the trick. Even though my 9-5 is a 1999, the gas tank is not original, so perhaps cracking of the gas tank pedestal for mounting the sensor is not an issue for this 2 year old replacement tank? I wish I owned a Tech II (only $5K with proper software..!) but maybe I'll return to my indie for a free scan since he didn't screw the sensor down tight when replacing the tank..(stop laughing, he might do it..!) Besides my nose, I was using a combustible gas detector sniffer which squealed when I first wiggled the loose sensor, but this is a bit different than the Tech II vacuum readings. Santa did give me a decent OBD II scanner for Christmas, which did identify "small evaporative leak".
Anyway, I'll wait and see if the SID messsage or CEL comes up and then return to diagnosis of the items you had suggested. Again, I really appreciate the good advice we try to share on SaabNet.
Thanx,
Kirk D.
