More than 1/2 of the tire life on my former 99 9-5SE was on 225/50/16 tires. The lower profile causes about 1 mph difference at 60 from my experience. Wear was a little worse on the inside rear (a normal wear problem with older 9-5s). Having more rubber on the road was a plus. I would go for it.
