I have an 03 Aero with 76K miles on it. It has been, and is, great and I plan on keeping it a long time but your message resonated with me. Soon I have to do the exhaust, which could be $1200. I've done basic maintenance all along, and it hasn't needed much, but sooner or later I'll get hit with those expensive things that wear out around 100K-120K.
I think it's worth putting the money into the car. The 03s are very good Saabs. You said you want to keep it another 24-30 months. You're running around 15K miles/year. Say you end up spending $5000 in repairs in the next 30 months (and it's likely you won't). That averages well less than $200/month. Where could you get a car like that for $166/month, along with cheap insurance, a known good indy mechanic and the great people on this website to share their knowledge?
It's a no-brainer, even if you took it in now and said fix everything that's likely to need work in the next two years.
