Most folks attack suspension problems when symptoms start showing themselves (clunking, squeaks, loose steering, etc.). If you're satisfied with the way the car is handling, my own opinion is that I wouldn't be too quick to roll 100K car into a mechanic for a "check up". At many places that is an open invitation to sell you all kinds of remedies for problems you don't have (yet), particularly in this economy. The type of driving you do and the condition of the roads in your area, and even the climate, can really make for a wide variation in how long suspension components will last, so don't assume that everything wears out at the same time for everyone. Some folks go well over 100K without problems. That said, it seems the sway bar links are usually the first to go, and fortunately they are the cheapest to fix. When they wear you will begin to hear a distinct clunking on bumpy pavement. Finally, if you're really the type of driver that feels much better getting ahead of problems before the arise, I would wait for the struts to show some wear, and then use that occasion to go in and do everything - struts, strut bearings, ball joints, bushings. Then you can quit thinking about it and just enjoy the drive!
