Getting off the green drain plug

I’ve got to get the plug on and off several times to flush the system.
I’ve tried the various suggested methods. I noticed Swedecar’s approach, but I don’t have a custom socket. Has anyone tried the one in the picture? Can I use an ordinary socket without breaking the plug? No size socket seems quite right and space gets to be a little tight when using 3/8” sockets. ¼” ones seem like they would fit much better. Does it matter if I use 6 point or 12 point? I tried using needlenose pliers, but I couldn’t get it lying on the ground and reaching up.
Does the plug turn counterclockwise when facing the same way as the front of the car?
