Well I have been in the SAAB arena for the past 17 years. When I finally bought my 93 CSE turbo 5spd, I cringed when the Aero was announced. I kept on saying tune the CSE; tune it. By 1998, someone decided to rearend me on a busy morning commute (actually they rearended 7 cars). So while I wouldnt touch a 9-5 which was due in a few months I picked up a 95' Aero with low miles and wehooooo. I had to get rid of it last spring.

I had been lookin at the S60. Actually I only sat in one at a car show. Personal opinion ? too small. Yes comfy up front more or less, but what back seat. Same problem SAAB had with NG900. As for size, I can fit 3 booster seats in the back of an Aero. Try that in an S60, and one of the kids will feel like he's riding a motorcycle buggy. Yea I got triplets.

Some one was mentioning Volvo quality dropping a bit. No surprize there. They are owned by Ford right? and look at their lack of quality the last 5+ years

After much pondering, I decided to buy a 2001 Aero wagon 5spd. Being a dad now sort of necessitated that. Interestingly enough, I decided, since I hit the milestone of 40 to have a happy bday to me from me and sent my Trionic to Abbot. Man what a difference. The Abbot tuning (yea it's pricey) is a boost all over the map and a rocket. And it's STILL faster than a 2002 Aero actually its far more responsive which it should be considering it improves torque all across the rev range.

Could I have waited ? I wish ... The steering / suspension of the 2002 is incredible. Now I'm lookin to tune my 2001 suspension closer to that. Personally my 2001 feels like my 93 CSEt with good rubber. A 2002 though feels much better than the original Aero ever did. I drove the standard. Auto ? Not till there is something with a semi auto mode. NEVER.

Right now the 2001 is nicknamed VADER. Well it's black :-) ... Once I do something to the suspension ... who knows .. might need to update the seat. Yea thats what I really miss is the seat.
