Yeah I think the 4spd is better than the 5spd for '02+ Posted by B Millar [Email] (#1109) [Profile/Gallery] (more from B Millar) on Thu, 25 Jun 2009 18:12:55 In Reply to: I whipped my 99 9-5 autobox 145k -no problems, dudethe9-5isfast, Thu, 25 Jun 2009 17:58:29 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I sold my 2001 9-5 V6 with the 4-speed auto with 184k miles on it and I think the transmission was still the strongest part on the car. I changed the fluid around 160k and it was pretty nasty (no symptoms though) and never had any issues with it.
A week into owning my '04 Aero with 31k miles on it with the newer 5-spd auto it starting slipping between 3rd and 4th. It scared the absolute living poo out of me the first couple times, but I had the fluid flushed by my indy and it seems to be doing fine since. I think his machine just lets it drain out the bottom and fills it through the top until it comes out clean. Is this considered a power flush that could damage seals? It shifts hard sometimes, especially in manual mode. The 4-spd was much smoother I felt.
