Fan speed controller idea?

Im pretty sure my controller is to blame for my severe dash vibrations with my A/C-heat blower. The wires for the controller look like they snake all over, and would be quite the process to change out. Is it possible to keep the existing wires and splice in a new controller? I'm just thinking it would be easier, but what other risks would be associated with it?
Any ideas?
