Replacing the 9-5: for what? Thoughts... Posted by dparadis [Email] (#2915) [Profile/Gallery] (more from dparadis) on Fri, 7 Aug 2009 17:53:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I am in the process of selling my 2003 9-5 LINEAR wagon.
It has been over a year since I had been looking for the right replacement but it never came along. Nothing out there really tempted me and I was hoping that something with a turbo might come along and make the choice for me. I was looking for space, style, fuel economy and fun. It never happened...
A month ago I decided I wasn't taking my SAAB on this year's road trip. Despite over $4,000 put on the car over the last year, I still wasn't at ease with it.
After much reading and review, I decided that a good compromise would be the new 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. And so I bought the thing, loaded it up with stuff, passengers and a roof rack and off we went. 3,000 miles (and 2 weeks) later, I must say I really like it. The added luxuries like Bluetooth with voice recognition, MP3 CD player, USB connector and so on, makes the car really enjoyable. And thought it has nothing of the driver's car the SAAB is, seating position and ride comfort is a real plus.
This being said, I do not believe i will keeping this car more than 18 months. Why? 'Cause finally, I believe I have found my true next car. The one I WANT and that I believe will be a hoot to drive: the 2010 Cadillac SRX, with TURBO!!!
The SRX is just beautiful! It is based on the same platform than the Equinox, shares its dimensions, has a nice looking exterior and a true luxury interior. And it has TURBO!!! And this is where all others fail. I believe once you have turbo, everything else is just ordinary.
And I also believe that SAAB, by keeping with car height vehicles is going the wrong way (but that's just me...).
Look at the new SRX, imagine it with some SAAB styling cues and just think if SAAB would have build it. I for one would have been really proud!
Anyone else having issues with replacing their 9-5?
