Our dealer (now defunct) kept saying the car really didn't need a new belt at almost 75K miles but I wasn't buying his story. He told me he'd probably do the short belt, but that Saab was changing back to the long belt so he could do either. This was last August.

My indy said the long belt was the way to go and that his customers weren't happy with the short belt. So he did the long one.

The car is reasonably smooth at idle, but I wouldn't want it to be any rougher than it is.
