As I drive a 9-5 Aero moded by Hirsch
I can assure you that it has 0 effect on
average fuel consumption and on emissions.

The problem here has to do with the warranty
and the US ECUs. Hirsch does not currently
have US ECUs for older models. However for
the 9-5 Aero and the latest 9-3s the software
can be made by Hirsch, what they will not do
is to writte software for older T5 9-5s and
9-3s cause they would sell too few units.

So... I expect SAAB USA along with Hirsch to
make mods available for older models in so far
as they will make it clear that for pre 2003 models
they will not give you a warranty. But before they
can do this they have to certify fully moded cars
as this validates the parts along with the cars.

So you can expect kits for 2000-2002 MY 9-5s and
9-3s, those models with T7s, but don't expect SAAB USA
to maintain your warranty as this would make these
kits too expensive. Somewhere the supplier has to
find the balance between certification cost and
volume sold.

You should also realize that demand fuels the choice
that SAAB USA and Hirsch will provide. If they feel
they can make $ they will sell the parts.

Obviously I can only recommend that SAAB USA initiates
a PRE ORDER system where current SAAB owers that are
willing to modify their cars are recorded and that
allows SAAB USA to decide what parts are worthwhile.
A refundable downpayment of, say $100 would be a good
idea. This simple procedure will allow SAAB USA to
get a good feel on what the market seriously needs.

Regards,
Coolknight
