The moldings have a texture if you look closely. I sanded the moldings to get a smooth finish which is what I wanted. See the picture. I sanded to 800 grit and lightly sanded the primer also.
After sanding I used a filler primer (aerosol) and then the base/clear (two coats each) using a compressor and spray gun (HVLP).
