I've read the posts where people's mileage results vary greatly with the same tire. Yeah driving style and rotations are factors however I suspect location can play a larger role. I live in Denver and the tire shops all seem to believe that the pavement temps lead to more rapid wear - even more so with places like Phoenix.
I have a 9-5 and so does the wife - hers is a 2004 ARc and at 27k the oem flavor of Michelin were gone. At the same time my 1999 needed tires so I went to the discount tire store and both cars received Yokohama YK520 - for under $ 1k out the door . Tire is warranted to 60k but Yokos are soft, I expected 40k but but both cars now need rubber at 30k miles .
My best deal looks like going back to discount where I can get a $ 60 treadwear credit per tire, buy Michelins Primacy for each car with a $ 70 mail in rebate and my out the door cost for both cars with new rubber and road hazard and lifetime free rotations and balances works out to $ 820 for 2 cars.
Hopefully I'll see 40k on the Michelins. I've never seen the inner wear on the rear tires, I rotate them between 6 and 7k miles.
