TG, I just replaced a dead TB (99 9-5 4cyl 132K) with a used one from Goldwing. It came from an 03 with 67K. I am now having hesitation/surge like during early throttle body failure. The new TB came with a 1 yr. warranty, but something you mentioned got my attention.
You said you removed the vacuum boost hose from the intake as part of your troubleshooting drivability problems. The check valve in my boost hose appears to be damaged. It almost looks charred or something. I assumed that if the brakes worked OK then it must be alright but never considered it might effect drivability if it was either blocked or had a leak. If it is damaged, do you think it could create throttle response symptoms like those you get when the TB is beginning to fail? I am not getting any codes set.
If everything else was OK, then what response were you testing for when you unplugged the hose and plugged the hole in the intake?
Thanks.
