So I'm replacing the timing belt and waterpump on my 2000SE. I have the timing cover open and the timing tensioner is clearly failing. Luckily it seems the engine has not lost timing yet (all the marks still align at TDC) and so I'm proceeding ahead...
But I ran into a problem: How exactly does one drain the coolant on a V6? I found the draincock on the bottom of the radiator, but how the heck do you actually turn it?
There's no room for any tools except they do allow you to push on the tab from below with a screwdriver or similar? I couldn't get mine to turn much, about a quarter turn and no coolant started draining. I'm afraid of putting too much pressure on it. Am I on the right track?
Are there any alternative means of draining the coolant? Thanks.
