I had the same problem in the beginning of my oil change routine on the 95 I now have it down.
First always use a 1/2 impact socket. It is a tighter fit than the 13mm and will avoid slipping. a ratchet of breaker bar will do it in most cases. I have occasionally used a 3/8 drive electric impact wrench when I am sure it is in the reverse direction.
Buy spare drain plugs and copper washers from eeuroparts.com they are a good place to buy filters too.
I always use a new copper washer and also a new drain plug if I see any signs of wear on the head.
I Jack my car from the front with a floor jack and then put a jackstand uder the passenger door on the seam where the front jack point is located.
