PCV update kit eeuroparts vs GM: CONFUSED!

We bought our 99 9-5 wagon used in Jan 2009. The PCV kit had supposedly just been installed, and now that I am looking closely at it, I see that it appears different than the kit offered at eeuroparts now. In the .pdf instructions at the eeuroparts site, step 15 indicates that the "crankcase vent hose" should be installed routed such that the check valve can be wrapped with coolant hoses. It then hooks into the oil collection box at the port on the driver's side.
On MY car, this hose does not have a check valve, and routes downward to the pass side of the oil filler neck. Does this mean I have an earlier kit?
I have been trying to track down a slight puff of smoke on cold startup (only happens on initial startup in the morning), and the turbo has ALREADY been replaced. I am hoping that maybe swapping this hose out (along with another that is quite deteriorated) might help. Oil consumption is not bad: less than half a quart over 2500 miles last I checked.
Any guidance would be VERY MUCH appreciated! Thanks in advance!
