"Chevy Truck Engine" ?!?!?!?!?!?!???
The 9-5's V6 is a lot of things, but it's never seen the inside of the engine bay of ANY Chevy truck.
The motor started life as an Opel V6, used in many places in Europe (and earlier versions in the NG 900, and 9000), plus a couple Cadillacs over in the US. Saab tweaked it quite a lot, adding cams (total of 4), and a single, small turbocharger, run off of only the front bank of cylinders. The turbo is so small, that the exhaust manifold is also the turbine housing for the device. You (and maybe your mechanic...) would be forgiven for missing it under all the shields and such.
But it bears absolutely no resemblance, other than configuration, to any motor in a Chevy truck.
Now, as to what motor you have in your car, look at the gallery below. That's my dearly departed 2002 9-5 Arc with the V6. If your motor looks like either of the first two photos (cover on/cover off), then you have the V6. The second bank is obscured by the inlet manifold.
If you don't have that, but a longer, black, METAL, valve cover that says "Saab" and "ecopower" and maybe "2.3", then you have the inline 4 with a turbo (VIN code "E", as in YS3ED48"E". The code for the 6 is "Z" in the same location). And the 4-cylinder is a purely Saab motor.
The 1999 9-5 SE can be a bit confusing. Originally, the "SE" was only supposed to have the 3.0 liter asymmetrically turbocharged V6. Production delays, however, forced Saab to offer the SE model early, with the 2.3 liter LPT (170 HP) and Auto trans, and all the other do-dads that go with it. So, for 1999, there are 4 cylinder SEs, and 6 cylinder SEs.
