I do not understand the desire to eliminate the bypass valve. It's there for a reason, isn't it? If it fails, replace it. Better yet, buy a spare to keep on your shelf. Then the one in your car will last forever. It's just the way things work. I think most of us can handle the $60 part without being forced to move into a refrigerator box under the overpass in town. And it's especially easy to replace on the V6 because there is a TON of room back there.
Yeah, some of them have failed on people pretty prematurely, but mine lasted 180k!
To answer your question though... I believe there is a kit available from Saab for the 4-cyl that is a direct fit to replace the bypass valve. But the V6 has an additional electronic coolant circulation pump (you know about the afterheater feature, right?) that might need extra accommodation.
IMHO, just replace the bypass valve. Use Saab OEM. Scantech sucks.
