trunk wire harness dilemma

Long story short my trunk wouldn't open yesterday with either the fob or the door button. From my reading here I suspected the harness where it goes from trunk lid into the body. Removed the black protective cover and sure enough I had 3 wires completely severed and the rest had exposed wires. I went ahead and just snipped them all. When splicing them back together I noticed two sets of wires were color coded the same. I figured it made no difference which way they went. My trunk now works fine but by backup lights are messed up. Drivers side works fine but passenger side comes on with my parking lights and doesn't work when put in reverse. Hope this makes enough sense for someone to be able to tell me which wire I have crossed.
