Harmon Kardon Repair Update

Found the source of the failure of the Harmon Kardon system in my '02 Aero and I thought I'd share in case it is of value others; it was quite a trial.
The sound quit suddenly and completely while traveling on a bumpy, rough freeway here in the Bay Area and never came back on. The SID showed that the head unit seemed to be working in all functions - just no sound. I checked all fuses, pulled and reinstalled the head unit several times, looked for loose wires and connections, and eventually installed a used Harmon Kardon power amp, all with no success. Finally after two visits to Short Circuit in San Jose, the good people there located the problem after searching the car top to bottom. There is a compact, plastic antenna amplifier mounted to the C pillar on the passenger side behind the trim, and, naturally, it is wired to power, the system, and the antenna embedded in the rear window. Apparently this amp had shorted out and was triggering the protection circuit in either the head unit or the amp, thus killing the output. Got myself a used antenna amp (with the credit I got for returning the used power amp) and now everything is back to normal. Man, you don't realize how sweet that system sounds until it's been absent for a couple weeks!
