(1) replacing the tank is the correct remedy
(2) Anders or someone has a great thread on a DIY repair with airplane epoxy. do more searches. maybe look into used tanks but mind that they'd need to be cleaned out well. might even get a free spare fuel muppm and sensor in that package.
(3) anyone else find it ironic that the very sensor that is supposed to tell us of a leak or crack is the very mount that is causing the cracks!?!? total BS! definitely a design flaw which Saab should have recalled IMO.
(4) I had the EXACT opposite BS happen to me! got the CEL for the sensor and cracked tank. replaced at dealer for $900 total! within like 2-3 weeks the fuel pump went out on me!! another $900!! I was FUMED! I can picture the tech removing the pump to replace the tank and dropping it on the floor (or maybe playing garage hockey puck with it!), putting it back and it working for a couple weeks!! coincidence?? I dont think so!
