Been there, done it. When the PS pump went on mine several months back, I was only 50-60 miles from home, at midnight, in driving 39-degree F rain. Same failure mode--it poured out the front of the pump, pretty well coating everything on that side of the engine. I found no evidence of long-term paint damage on mine.

A new PS pump would be nice, but at this point, since you're tight on cash, do some dialing and surfing online for a used one.

Getting it out's pretty straightforward: Remove the serp belt, three or four bolts (the trick here is that two of them are hidden behind the pump pulley). The PITA part will probably be finding the CHF-11S PS fluid anywhere near your neck of the weeds. You'll also want to replace the serp belt when you get home.

Good luck on the job interview and on getting the car back on the road.
