Said to replace the brakelight switch try and cure my C0131 and abs Xmas tree lights.
....
....
Well no not really.
I spent 2.5 hours in the dark with a shoplight in my driveway sweating inthe 70+ degree dewpoints. How the HECK can an adult male get their fingers in there to replace the brake light switch?!?!?!?
I found my haynes repair manual which said it was no big deal at all. Between the steerig metal column, this other curve piece of steel which ended near the brake pedal, and the SHARP edges of the sheet metal above all this it was darned near impossible!
I could barely get my head and shoulder between the seat and the steering wheel or the kickpanel. I sweated thru two shirts and shorts. My back is covered in bruises from leaning awkwardly on the door sill. The new switch just would not stay in for me to turn it 90 degrees to lock it to the bracket. I think I used a small socket to finally turn it a little enough to partially (read, by a thread, as I thought I had it 'in' a couple dozen times!!) lock it then used needle nose pliers to turn the switch from behind the bracket (the little piece that moves with the brake pedal).
Good grief next time instead of just saying this $20 part could help please warn us non mechanics that some repairs can be hazardous to our health. And how in heck was I supposed to do this cuz I don't think I did it the right way. It should not have been this painful >:(
Oh and the best part is I left this morning on my 150 mile each way trip and on mile 2 the abs lights came back on again.
