Ok, I am starting the process of replacing the thermostat and temp sensor in a 2001 Saab 9-5 SE with a 3L v6 in it, too. I have the intake off and noticed the gasket is busted. Actually it looks more like someone put green jello down and used it as the gasket. Do I replace or throw Loctite silicone or something similar "sealant" at it?
I think I have identified where the T-stat is at, but want to confirm that is is almost right below the throttle body and under the temp sensor - drivers side. Can anyone confirm? Also, does the metal tube and rest of tubing for that matter need to come out.
And, finally, does anyone have pictures to go along with the process to clarify what needs to be done and redone?
Man, I thought the 9000 CSE was hard. This makes the 9000 look and feel really easy.
BTW, is there a cheep fix for the red collar around the broken red flange?
Thanks for a reply....
Warren
