My '03 Aero has 136k and is on it's original front rotors, 2nd set of front pads (current pads have 72k), and original rear rotors and pads. I've never had a car go this long on brakes. Squealing while braking is becoming more frequent and louder, so I figure it's time to replace.
I'm mainly concerned with brake feel & performance, longevity, and cost. Not so much about dust (that horse left the barn a long time ago) or fade resistance.
For fronts I'm looking at the Brembo rotors & Akebono pads from eEuro. $211 total. The Brembos are a significant cost savings over the OEMs. Anyone know if they come with set screws or do I need to order those as well?
For the rears (which I'm not certain are needed yet), eEuro only has Scantech branded rotors. They are cheap ($50), any experience with them? For pads they have Akebono, PBR/Axxis, Jurid, OEM, and Febi/Bilstien, at prices ranging from $32 to $75. Leaning to Akebono.
GenuineSaab offers the OEM vented rears for $85 apiece, I could be convinced to get those over the Scantechs if folks feel strongly about it.
Thanks,
jeff
