I believe that while the WIS program is a 32 bit program, the installer [setupwis.exe] is a 16 bit program. That program will not run on Windows 7 . . .
UNLESS . . .
You have Windows 7 in the Professional or Ultimate versions. These allow a virtual XP machine to run. On XP, one can run 16bit programs.
[Windows 7 Home does not permit the running of that virtual XP machine, although it will address some compatibility issues by modifying how a executable runs, to mimic the conditions for various earlier versions of windows.]
If you have Windows 7 Home, the choices are:
- - - 1. run the software on another, older laptop with XP, or
- - - 2. purchase the anytime upgrade for Windows 7 [giving you access to the Win7 Professional, or more money, yet, Win7 Ultimate, downloading the MS software to enable the virtual XP machine, and -then- running the WIS install on that virtual machine. At that point, I have no idea if you have to always run the software inside that XP virtual OS...
