Water pump replacement - ARGH!!!! Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 23 Aug 2010 08:46:06 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So far I have everything removed except for:
1) loosening the cooling water line banjo fititng at the turbo
2) dosconnecting the turbo cooling water line banjo fitting at the water pump
The next steps are removal and replacement of the pump. So close..........
Both banjo fittings are corroded so tight my long profile 12mm wrench is bending!
Along the way I have managed to break the nylon barbed T-fitting connecting the turbo inlet pipe to the turbo control valve and some other piece of vacuum line - probably a $1 generic part at an auto parts place. I also knocked a small screw driver down the over-sized air inlet snorkel so I had to disassemble that to retireve the tool.
Right now I am waiting for a trip to the auto parts palce to get the T-fitting and hoping all the PB Blast and Liquid Wrench I have sprayed on those fittings will take effect before I return.
2-1/2 hours into this job so far. What a way to spend a vacation day!
