Frustrating oil leak

I've had a very frustrating 9 months of trying to fix an oil leak that's on the front engine side by crank pulley. Been to the indie three times now. First time timing chain inspection cover gasket (I think that was it) was replaced. Then new head gasket (was needed for coolant leak. Indie found a small gouge in the head by timing chain and was convinced that was it. Gouge fixed, new gasket, same leak). Then oil pump o-ring replaced (why indie did not replace the front crank seal at same time is beyond me).
After all that it's still leaking. '
Oil pressure seal is bone dry as is oil pressure switch. Considering the leak is around the crank pulley it seems to me it has to be the front crank seal. What else? Oil leak is not high by motor mount.
I notice the front cover of the engine (where the crank is bolted onto) is simply bolted on. Could the seal around the cover be leaking? I assume there is no seal per se other than some sealant added to the cover before it's bolted on.
As I'm soooo tired of the $ and trips to the indie I want to replace the front crank seal myself. Are there any write ups at all on this?
