Well I did it, thanks to all the great post found on this site. I used this link:

This method connects directly to the main board, by far the easiest to get to the solder locations.
Did not install the switch, no need since when radio is set to RADIO, the radio mutes when the iPhone is attached and playing. You should remove iPhone when playing radio for best radio sound.
I also did solder the ground at an easier point, back at the edge of the board where the mounting screw passes, great spot to solder gnd. Thanks to all who posted all the way back to 2006, all the photos were helpful.
