Folks, I've never had an automatic Saab before and though it seems to drive fine there are few things that concern me. The car is a 2001 Aero sedan. 90000 miles. The fluid is fresh and topped off. I have done the drain and fill flush 4 times now over the last 4 months as the fluid looked darker than it should (no real burnt smell, though) and I didn't have much history on the car save it was starting to sludge - chances are the PO didn't treat the car right.
First, and foremost, When I shut the car off in my driveway or anywhere with any sort of incline, once I take my foot off the brake the car will roll forward about 6-8 inches and then stop with an audible click. WHen I then start the car up and back out of my driveway there is another audible click from the front as the car begins to move. That much play doesn't seem right to me. Is it normal for any of you?
Going from 1st to 2nd is a fairly noticeable shift. 2nd to 3rd to 4th is smooth as ever. When driving in first there is an "whirring" sound from the tranny that increases with RPM and then seems to go away after shifting to 2nd. Again, am I nit-picking too much here or is this relatively normal given the car's age?
I appreciate all your help.
Dan
