If the vehicle is manual 5-spd check the engagement of the starter clutch switch behind the clutch pedal. Had a client who had intermittent no starts on his 5-spd 9-5. It would start every time here, no problem over and over for days. Then when he had the vehicle it would not crank every other day or so.
Ended up being the alignment of the starter switch behind the clutch pedal. (Must press clutch to engage starter) I was pressing the pedal deep into the carpet, enough to close the switch and start. At times, he was not. A simple adjustment of the switch mounting bracket corrected his no crank.
