A small but mysterious thing, I think. Our 2000 9-5 wagon had no light on this switch, and it was a CPO. The car was gone over by a Saab dealer when we bought it, and several small dash and switch lamps were replaced. Never thought this one had a light under it.
Our next 9-5 wagon, a 2004, also a CPO, came with a lit switch! Still under warranty, the lamp burned out. When I asked the local Saab dealer to replace it, both the service writer AND the master tech said that the switch is not lighted!!!
I don't have a WIS, but I'd sure like to know how to get to this one. I suspect that a lot of disassembly is called for - and that's why no one wants to go after it for a $3 bulb.
If you find out how to get to it, I suggest you replace the burned out bulb with a new LED unit, as it will probably not burn out in the time that you own the car - plus about 10 years or so... It's probably one of those "neowedge" bulbs mounted to a small round piece of circuit board. The LED unit is a drop-in replacement.
