3.0 V6 or 2.3 4 cyl? Posted by MikeVT [Email] (#219) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MikeVT) on Sun, 7 Nov 2010 08:09:31 In Reply to: buying a 2000 9-5 wagon, Rob Ballantyne, Sat, 6 Nov 2010 13:34:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Depends on the motor. The 2.3 should have the serp belt at 60,000. The 3.0 V6 HAS to have the timing belt at 60,000. The PVC really doesn't apply to the V6 but is very important to the 4 cyl. There really aren't any sludge issues with the V6 but the timing belt change at 60,000 is imperative. Religious synthetic oil changes and PVC #6 update are imperative with the 2.3 4 cyl. Depending on the motor, make sure you know what was changed at 70,000, the "Timing belt" or the "serpentine belt". There's a big difference.
