I made my decision based on control, engaged, and finally cost. I just past 1K on my 2002 Aero Manual and I have no complaints. It took me many months to decide on which car to purchase and which options I would go with. I test drove both auto and manual 2001 and 2002 Aero's and opted for the manual to be more in control in snowy/slippery conditions and to stay engaged as I drove. Personally, I do not see "always driving flat out" as a priority but you have the option it so desired. I also add I am not a fan of cruise control.
I just took the 2002 Aero in for the 30 day check and got a 9-5 Auto loaner for the day. It was a rainy day and I continually broke the front wheels on the wet pavement. As a previous post stated, it made me appreciate my manual more.
Having 2 teenage sons, I find it important that they pay attention to their droving and not to the distractions that occur as you drive (radio, passengers, etc.)
