Each front axle has two Constant Velocity (CV) joints, an inner and outer. The outer is the joint that generally goes bad. The rubber boot protecting it tears or cracks and allows dirt and debris to get in and the joint lubrication to get out. Take a look at the axle and there will be two tennis ball sized black accordion type boots, one closer on the axle to the wheel, one closer on the axle to the transmission. If either, more likely the outer as that joint articulates more, is torn and greasy than that is most likely your problem.
