issue #1: Forced air will flow through the vents even with the fan off. Close the vent.
issue #2: The abruptly colder temp change could coincide with the A/C engaging. 50 deg ambient is the cut off for automatic A/C turn off. You mention that the outside temp has been around 50. Could be that the system is turning the A/C back on. First thing that happens is that it spews very cold air. It should warm things back up again within 30 secs though.
issue #3: If you have the "ECON" button pressed, the humidity could have a profound effect on the perceived temp. Don't know what else to say . . .
issue #4: See Douglas' comments concerning programming.
