1999 Saab 9-5 Sedan LTP. I am in the middle of removing a bad alternator and was going to try and remove it from the top. Yes, I know, WIS from the bottom after loosening engine mounts and exhaust, but I heave one question first...
There is a piece that is attached to the engine in the back above the alternator. It has the tensioner on it and it juts out to the back. It seems to have three 13mm bolts holding it on and looks to remove easily. Taking the bottom bolt off I noted oil on the threads, so I am guessing this part exposes the internals?
It looks like this part only has the serpentine belt tensioner, but only a guess....
What really is this part mounted on the engine and can it be removed to pull the alternator out the top?
