I had the same issues you mentioned. During an inspection, Anders (Sweedcar) noticed massive corrosion on my Pos cable. I thought about making one myself, search the board, there are post regarding it. Most items can be had at Napa Auto. You cannot reuse the clamps, the corrosion makes it's way into them and is there to stay.
I noticed a night/day difference once the cable was replaced. The car starts very quickly and I'm getting almost 14V to the battery while idling.
