John, I posted this to Es9 but it must have been lost on the old thread. Mya I ask your opinion as you have had recent experience? Oops! I think I did the same thing (see Es9's post on snugging trasn to engine with the bolts). I, too, was using the bolts to snug the trans/block together. Alignment was going OK as the bolts were aligning, and were even mostly finger tightenable. I thought the resistance I was getting was just from the passenger axle re-mating to the differential. As I completed the last 1/2 (or less) I heard a "pop", sort of like a pie pan flexing or the "pop" when you open a jar of jam. But I thought it was just the final seating of the rear aignment dowel. Went to tighten the smaller 16mm bolt on the bottom; and another "pie pan pop". It was 105F in the garage, I was frustrated and I guess the trans is shot. Any way to check other than dropping the trans,--again? Perhaps when I bolt the flex plate to the T/C? Transmission removal is definately not to be tried at home on this model. Thanks, PFB.
