I guess this has come full circle, at least for 9-5 fuel:
Here in NY State, there's 10% ethanol in ALL motor vehicle fuel, AFAIK.
When I first got my 9-5, it was a CPO. Bought it in the dead of winter. When the spring came, I was having trouble starting in the morning - long cranks, barely started, sputtered, died. Repeated this routine a couple ftimes. On the 3rd or 4th attempt, started normally, ran normally all day.
Dealer replaced DIC (was under recall anyhow), tried a lot of other things. His Saab master tech has been working on our cars for years, so it wasn't a matter of poor diagnosis. Finally, service manager asked me to try another brand of gas - I had been using Mobil exclusively. There was a Saab TSB sent to dealers on the west coast of the US for this starting issue, and the "solution" was switching gasoline brands.
Long story a little shorter - after my first 15+ gallon fill-up with Sunoco Ultra, the problem went away and never came back. Other things I had tried included using Techron (no change), leaving the car at the dealer for a few days - nothing helped. The only problem with Sunoco is in this town, despite state legislation prohibiting it, prices at local Sunoco stations can vary as much as 20¢ per gallon on the same grade of fuel in stations not very far apart...
