fog lights as DRL's

First, my prejudices.
I like the idea of some kind of DRL, definitely safer.
My 08 wagon is the first Saab I've owned with xenon headlights.
I have no problem replacing cheap halogen bulbs more often because of DRL's, but xenon's are way too expensive.
I think factory fog lights are pretty worthless, other than blinding oncoming traffic at night, and that people who run fog lights at night when there's no fog are inconsiderate idiots.
SO, with that....
I noticed that my wife's Buick Enclave (an incredible vehicle, by the way) used the fog lights as DRL's, but they went off when the car switched to headlights.
So, an old Saab double throw relay, a little wire, 4 quick-splices, and a couple of hours studying the various wiring diagrams in the WIS, and I now have fog lights illuminated when the key is on, but they shut off as soon as I turn on the headlights (DRL fuse was pulled when I found out how much I had to pay for replacement Xenon bulbs).
The actual wiring was pretty simple, took about 1/2 hour, all done in the fuse/relay box under the hood.
Switched power, +54, from the supply for the rear wiper/headlight washer circuit fed through the N/C side of the relay to the foglight wiring coming out of the fog light relay.
The relay coil is energized by the low beam headlight circuit (either side) just past the relay.
The only wire that had to feed out of the enclosure was ground for the relay coil.
Turning on the headlights energizes the coil which opens the circuit.
And no, I wouldn't really rather have a Buick.
(if you remember the ad campaign that references, you are really old...)
