D-I-Y Fuel Pump Replacement Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sun, 25 Sep 2011 10:56:33 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
What are the pieces for this job that seem to break and cause owners fits? I understand about the yellow retaining tabs for the fuel lines but I am already using the metal screw in retainer clip since the yellow tabs can fail at any time.
Do the fuel lines themselves get brittle and snap while removing the pump? Why do so many people seem to need the angled check valves to complete the job?
This will soon be the last major pre-emptive repair my car will require (new CPS, removed Coolant by-Pass, new IDM as soon as it arrives) and I am considering doing it yet this fall or next spring. Current fuel pump is 4+ years old with 120,000 miles of use, original fuel pump failed at 7-1/2 years and 190K miles.
