EVAP hose on throttle body Posted by GFW3pedals [Email] (#405) [Profile/Gallery] (more from GFW3pedals) on Wed, 5 Oct 2011 05:52:31 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So while performing a DIY oil change,( which I like to do for just this reason alone if no other) I find one of the O2 sensor wires baking on the downpipe. Fortunately it only melted the outer protective cover. Problem was the connector up by the throttle body was not secured in the bracket with the other two, AND the connector itself was broken into three peices instead of two. From the looks of it, it was a long time ago, and whoever was monkeywrenching it didn't bother to fix it. I just can't believe the lazy work ethic of some people out there. Hope he didn't have his hands on too much else. Anyway some crazy glue and re-routing the wire properly away from extreme heat was an easy fix. While in there I decided to have a look at whatever I could regarding my massive EVAP leak. Well, I'd say massive is because the little hose going from the fuel rail to the throttle body was off and basically disintigrated when I moved it. Dry rotted badly. I had a piece of hose on hand that fit. Another easy fix. My CK engine light has yet to go out though.;-(
The car seems to accelerate with new enthusiasm, but that could be the post oil change/wash and wax placebo effect.
