As far as I know there was no "premium leather packge" in 2002, just a premium package. The top portions of the seat that touch your body are leather, the sides and backs are vinyl. Use a quality leather treatment not an all in one or vinyl treatment. Lexol is a great inexpensive product. It is better to use several small applications instead of one big one. You may have to clean the leather first, then treat it. After a cleaning/treatment try and give it a treatment once a month. Lexol makes wipes which work great for this. My 2002 driver's side is looking worn but it has been used everyday since I bought it. I will say that after over 9.5 years, 2 kids and a dog the leather is looks pretty good. I will also say that I have not really taken casre of the leather until only recently. Our second car is an 09 Japanese abd the leather is looking the same as my 02 Saab's.
