If you are worried about the pump - well measure it! The geneva wheel style pump as used on T-7 cars is admittedly less robust than the gear pump used on earlier Saab motors, but by itself it is used extensively in automobile engines without causing problems. It has to be more cost effective to measure than to blindly replace. If the pressure measures low, of course step 2 is to check the screen. If it is largely blocked, clean and replace the screen and pan, and measure again. If the screen is clean, then measure the main and rod bearings. Replacing a perfectly good pump won't help worn bearings. If the pressure is marginal or close to spec and the screen is clean, higher viscosity oil is a more convenient option to replacing the pump, especially if the bearing clearance is on the large side of acceptable.
Eventually the engine will wear out. Or the car will be slain in mortal combat. Throwing money at the oil pump won't save the day. All that said, if the bearings are in spec and the screen is clean and the oil pressure is low, well yeah, replace the pump. Do measure the pressure intelligently to rule out a bad pressure relief valve. The spec is, I believe, pressure at 2000 rpm with fully warmed 10W30 oil. Watch how the pressure increases with rpm. If it increases with rpm then levels out below spec at below 2000 rpm, or if the rate of pressure increase with engine speed seems to fade, then the pressure relief is suspect. If, otoh, the pressure behavior looks right but it just doesn't make it to spec, then there is a pump problem (or clogged screen or worn bearings).
