how much fluid in manual tranny? Posted by mlc [Email] (#1747) [Profile/Gallery] (more from mlc) on Sat, 28 Jan 2012 20:04:16 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I just drained the fluid in my 2001 2.3lpt 5 spd manual... Unfortunately I was unable to get the side plug out, which is used to check the fluid level, so I filled will 1.8L (1.9 quarts) of fluid.. as I had seen this stated as the Fluid Capacity in the Owners Manual..
Now i've also seen reference to "Oil Volume" for the tranny as (1.6L) ???? what the heck ? Which is it..? and whats the impact of an overfill ?
Everyone says these are 8mm allen wrench fittings.. which is what I used as well.. But upon further inspection the drain plug looked to be more of a TORX fitting.. though the 8mm fitted snuggly , allowing me to loosed it... But the side fitting wasn't as snug, and I couldn't get it off..
