If your car doesn't have a wiring harness in place, it's still pretty simple. My 9-5 came new with the Homelink mirror, but I installed one on my OG 9-3 with no problem. As I recall, there are three wires that you have to be concerned about. Some mirrors have five wires, two of them being for the self-dimming side-view mirrors. The applicable ones for you are red or black (power), brown (ground), and green (turns the dimming feature off when the car goes into reverse)......I believe that these colors are accurate. Make your own 3-wire harness starting from the mirror and running along the forward edge of the headliner (just tuck it under there). Then remove the A-pillar trim cover and run the three wires down to the fuse panel. You'll find plenty of rubber and or vinyl trim pieces to cover the three wires. Don't be tempted to connect the power at overhead console area. These are "unswitched" circuits that will keep power to the mirror at all times (compass, dimming and Homelink accuation. Connect power at the fuse panel to something that only activates when the ignition is switched on. Any securing bolt on the fuse panel should serve as a ground. The green wire should go to the backup light fuse, as this will turn the mirror off temporarily when the car goes into reverse. I never hooked up the green wire and did not perceive a problem of things being too dim when I backed up. Good luck.
